Mitchell County Schools will participate in Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)
The Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Acts of 2010 provides an alternative to collecting applications for free and reduced meals in high poverty areas.  The new alternative is called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).  With the CEP, reimbursement is based on claiming percentages derived from "identified student percentages".  Identified student percentages refer to the percent of enrolled students who are approved free without an application, including students who are directly certified, homeless, migrant, or foster approved from a listing.  A formula is applied to the percentage of identified eligible to determine the percentage of free meals that can be claimed.

National School Lunch/School Breakfast Programs
By participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) and eliminating the need for meal applications, Mitchell County School System will reduce administrative and printing costs.  Families also benefit from the elimination of completing and submitting meal applications.

Children need healthy meals to learn.  Mitchell County School System offers healthy meals every school day at no charge to your child(ren).  Our food services receives support from the U.S. Department of Agriculture through the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.

The following schools will be participating in this alternative provision and provide meals at no charge to children:  Mitchell County Primary, Elementary, Middle and High Schools.
