MCSS District/School Combined Parent & Family Engagement Plan

Welcome to Mitchell County Schools Parent and Family Engagement!  Parents are their child’s first and best teacher.   We support our families in your efforts to help your child receive a quality education. The term Parent and Family Engagement means the participation of parents in regular, two-way and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities. Mitchell County School System wants to partner with you to provide all students with a positive and enriching educational experience.   We are ready to serve the needs of our parents and caretakers.  Please feel free to contact the Federal Programs office with any questions, concerns or ideas that may arise as you and your child travel the road of success.

The school-parent compact is a written agreement between teachers and parents. It is a document  that clarifies what families and schools can do to help children reach high academic standards. Every school receiving Title I funds must develop a compact. The compact serves as a clear reminder of everybody's responsibility to take action at school and at home so that children can learn what is required of them. It is a written commitment indicating how all members of a school community -- parents, teachers, principals, students, and concerned community members -- agree to share responsibility for student learning.
