Congratulations to Keniyah Weston and Kayla Anderson, 11th grade students at Mitchell County High School, for their acceptance into the Teagle Foundation Summer College Readiness Program. The program is part of the foundation's Knowledge for Freedom initiative to support high school students to learn the importance of citizenship and civic engagement. They will take place in a 3-week seminar at Valdosta State University this summer. Congratulations, Keniyah and Kayla! Keep up the great work.

The Mitchell County School System will delay the start of school on Thursday, April 11, due to severe weather expected in our area. School will begin at 9:00 a.m. Staff will report to their designated schools at 8:30 a.m. The Mitchell County School System will resume regular school hours on Friday, April 12. On January 28, 2024, the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders recognized Mitchell County Schools with the 2023-2024 GAEL Vision Award. The Vision Award cites school systems that are committed to encouraging and supporting teachers, principals, and district office staff in professional learning.

Mitchell County School Superintendent, Dr. Veronica Brown was presented The Vision Award for Mitchell County Schools during the Winter GAEL Conference at the Classic Center in Athens.

The Mitchell County Board of Education has scheduled a Called Board Meeting on March 4, 2024, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the Mitchell County High School Modernization Project, the fiscal agent for the Family Connection State Grant (FY25), and personnel.
